# How to Redeem Comeback Cash Coupons

Comeback Cash coupons are promotional rewards that customers earn from qualifying purchases. When a customer presents a Comeback Cash coupon, you can quickly redeem it using the Workbook's built-in redemption tool.

## Accessing the Redemption Tool

The Comeback Cash redemption tool is available from anywhere in the Workbook:

1. Look for the `Redeem Coupon` button in the **Quick Actions** section of the left sidebar
2. Click the button to open the redemption modal

> **Tip:** The button displays a ticket icon and is always accessible while you're in the Workbook.

## Redeeming a Coupon

### Step 1: Open the Redemption Modal

Click the `Redeem Coupon` button in the sidebar. The redemption modal will appear with a code input field.

### Step 2: Enter or Scan the Coupon Code

You have two options:

- **Scan the barcode**: Position your cursor in the input field and scan the coupon's barcode. The system will automatically detect the scan and validate the code.
- **Type the code manually**: Enter the 8-character code (e.g., `ABCD-1234`) and click `Validate`.

> **Tip:** The system automatically removes hyphens and converts codes to uppercase, so `abcd-1234`, `ABCD1234`, and `abcd1234` all work the same.

### Step 3: Review the Coupon Details

Once validated, the modal displays:

- **Coupon value** (e.g., $5.00)
- **Customer name** (who the coupon was issued to)
- **Event name** (the promotion that generated the coupon)
- **Expiration date**

If the coupon has a **minimum purchase requirement**, you'll need to enter the current transaction amount to proceed.

### Step 4: Complete the Redemption

1. Review the coupon details
2. If required, enter the transaction amount
3. Click `Redeem` to apply the coupon

After successful redemption, you'll see a confirmation with the amount applied.

## Handling Invalid Coupons

If a coupon code doesn't work, the system will explain why:

### Common Reasons a Coupon May Be Invalid

| Error | What It Means | What to Do |

| **Invalid Code** | The code doesn't exist in the system | Double-check the code and try again |
| **Already Redeemed** | The coupon was previously used | Inform the customer the coupon has already been applied |
| **Expired** | The coupon is past its expiration date | Check if there are other active promotions available |
| **Minimum Not Met** | Transaction is below the minimum purchase | The customer needs to purchase more to use this coupon |

Click `Try Again` to enter a different code, or `Close` to dismiss the modal.

## Barcode Scanner Support

The redemption tool is optimized for barcode scanners:

- **Auto-detection**: The system recognizes rapid input from scanners (vs. manual typing)
- **Auto-submit**: After scanning, validation begins automatically
- **No click needed**: Just scan and wait for the result

For best results:
1. Click in the code input field first
2. Scan the barcode on the customer's coupon
3. Wait for automatic validation

### Can I redeem a coupon without completing a transaction?
