## What Is the Buy Log?

The Buy Log (also called the Print Log or Daily Log) is a detailed view of all buy transactions for a given day. It includes timing statistics, team performance metrics, and a printable layout. This is the primary tool for reviewing the day's activity and printing a physical record for your files.

## How to Access the Buy Log

There are two ways to reach the Buy Log:

1. **Sidebar Navigation** -- Click **Buy Log** (printer icon) in the left sidebar
2. **Direct URL** -- Navigate to `/{your-store-code}/printLog/` (e.g., `/ou00/printLog/`)

## Page Header Controls

At the top of the Buy Log you will find three controls:

| Control | What It Does |
|---------|-------------|
| **Date Display** | Shows which date you are currently viewing |
| **Date Button** | Opens a date picker to view the log for a different day |
| **Print Button** | Sends the current log to your printer |

## Transaction Log Table

The main table lists every buy processed on the selected date with these columns:

| Column | Abbreviation | Description |
|--------|-------------|-------------|
| **Buy #** | -- | The buy number |
| **Name** | -- | Customer's full name |
| **# Bins** | -- | Number of bins/containers in the buy |
| **Dropped Off** | -- | Time the customer dropped off items |
| **Sorter** | -- | Team member who sorted the buy |
| **Buyer** | -- | Team member who processed the buy |
| **SD** | Start Delay | Time between drop-off and when sorting began |
| **ST** | Sort Time | How long the sorting step took |
| **PT** | Process Time | Total time from start to completion |
| **PT/C** | Process Time per Container | Average process time divided by number of containers |
| **Resend SMS** | -- | Button to re-send the completion SMS to the customer (screen only) |

### Timing Columns Explained

- **Start Delay (SD)** -- How long the customer waited before someone started sorting. Lower is better.
- **Sort Time (ST)** -- The duration of the sorting phase. This depends on the number and type of items.
- **Process Time (PT)** -- Total elapsed time from when sorting began to when the buy was complete.
- **Process Time per Container (PT/C)** -- Process time divided by the number of bins. This is the best metric for comparing efficiency across different-sized buys.

### Previous-Day Buys

Buys from a previous day that were completed on the viewed date show their drop-off time in **bold with two asterisks (\*\*)**. A note at the bottom of the table explains this convention.

## Today's Buyers and Sorters Summary

Above the transaction table, two columns show:

- **Today's Buyers** (left) -- A list of team members who processed buys today
- **Today's Sorters** (right) -- A list of team members who sorted buys today

This gives a quick overview of who was active on the floor.

## Performance Statistics

Below the transaction table, two statistics tables provide aggregated performance data:

### Buyer Stats

| Column | Description |
|--------|-------------|
| **Buyer Name** | The team member's name |
| **Average Process Time** | Their average time to process a buy |
| **Average Per Container** | Their average time per container across all buys |
| **Buys Processed** | Total number of buys they completed |
| **Bins Processed** | Total number of bins they handled |

### Sorter Stats

| Column | Description |
|--------|-------------|
| **Sorter Name** | The team member's name |
| **Average Sort Time** | Their average time to sort a buy |
| **Average Per Container** | Their average sort time per container |
| **Buys Sorted** | Total number of buys they sorted |
| **Bins Sorted** | Total number of bins they sorted |

These statistics help identify who is performing well and where there might be opportunities for improvement.

## Printing the Log

Click the **Print** button (or use Ctrl+P / Cmd+P) to print the Buy Log. The print layout is specifically designed for paper:

- Header elements and navigation are hidden
- Tables are reformatted for a standard paper width
- The store's address and phone number are included at the bottom
- Font sizes are optimized for readability on paper

The print version includes all the same data but with a cleaner layout suited for physical filing.

## Resending SMS Notifications

If a customer did not receive their completion text message, use the **Resend SMS** button in the last column of the transaction table. This re-sends the standard completion notification to the customer's phone number on file.

Note: The Resend SMS column only appears on screen -- it is not included in the printed version.

## Browsing Historical Data

Use the **Date** button to open a date picker and view the Buy Log for any previous day. This is useful for:

- Reviewing yesterday's performance
- Investigating a specific transaction from the past
- Comparing metrics across different days

## Tips

- **Print the log at close of business** each day for your records
- **Compare PT/C across team members** -- it is the fairest comparison metric since it accounts for buy size
- **Watch Start Delay (SD)** -- consistently high start delays may indicate you need more people on sorting during peak hours
- **Use the date picker** to pull up past logs when a customer has a question about a previous transaction

*The Buy Log is print-optimized. For a quick glance at today's completed buys without the detailed stats, use the Completed Buys view instead.*
